You Matter…

Let gratitude and prayer bubble up and brew your morning like the finest cup of coffee this side of Heaven. It’s basically spiritual deodorant; roll it on first thing, and somehow the whole day smells less like yesterday’s troubles and more like fresh biscuits and the Lord’s own sweet lavender.

Over in 1 Samuel 30, David and his men had just taken down the Amalekite raiders and were heading home with the spoils. The men who stayed behind to guard the camp came out to greet them, probably hoping for a “Welcome back, here’s your share!” moment. Instead, a few loudmouths who’d been in the battle said, “Nope. Y’all didn’t fight, so y’all don’t get a thing.”

David basically said, “Who’s gonna listen to nonsense like that?” Then he laid down the rule: We share and share alike: the fighters and the equipment‑watchers” (verse 24). In modern terms: the guy guarding the cooler gets a burger, too.

Some folks thought their job made them more important. But David and God didn’t buy that for a second. Honestly, that’s great news for the rest of us, who aren’t out slaying giants before breakfast.

Maybe you feel like your work for God is small, like you’re the spiritual equivalent of the person who holds the flashlight while someone else fixes the car, but Heaven sees it differently. What looks ordinary down here might be priceless up there.

Peter says we’re God’s “royal priests” (1 Peter 2:9), which is Bible‑speak for “you matter more than you think.” Paul goes even further and calls us “God’s masterpiece” (Ephesians 2:10): not His scribble, not His practice sketch, but “His priceless masterpiece”.

It’s like that guy who found an old vase in his attic, figured it was worth twenty bucks, and nearly passed out when it sold for $324,000. Turns out it was a Ming Dynasty treasure. Sometimes value isn’t obvious until the right eyes see it.

Ask yourself: What value does God see in your faithfulness?

Heavenly Father, thank You for giving me purpose. Help me stay faithful, steady, and joyful in the work You’ve placed in my hands. Strengthen me when I’m tired, guide me when I’m unsure, and let my life reflect Your goodness. Keep me faithful until I see You face to face. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Stand tall today! God’s got His eyes on you, He doesn’t miss a thing, He loves you, and He’s so not done using you yet!

With joy,

Gwen
