If you ever wander down to Gonzales, Texas, you might hear a little harmony drifting off a front porch somewhere. Gwen Craig, born‑and‑raised Texan whose life has been stitched together with faith, family, and a whole lot of music, grew up in a household where everybody sang something: Mama hit the high notes, Daddy rumbled the low ones, her brother carried the tenor, and Gwen held down the alto while tickling the piano keys. She and her brother started singing duets when she was nine and never really stopped.

Gwen met Jesus early, saved at six, baptized at seven, and called to ministry at twelve. She earned degrees from Howard Payne University and Southwestern Seminary, spent 35 years in education, picked up a doctorate degree along the way, and served as a church pianist for just about every choir, revival, and potluck this side of the Guadalupe River.

But the chapter that shaped her most began in 2016. She and her husband of 34 years retired together, and four months later, she and her three grown children found themselves walking through the valley of grief with her husband (and children’s father) suddenly passed away. In those tender days, a hospice chaplain showed up with gentle prayers and quiet strength, and God planted a seed in Gwen’s heart for which she didn’t yet have words.

Over the next few years, God rebuilt Gwen’s life piece by piece. She dove into Scripture, led Bible studies, served seniors, formed a ladies’ trio, and became a certified grief‑recovery specialist. Then in 2018, the Lord surprised her with a second chance at love. She reconnected with Sam Craig, a widowed music evangelist she’d once worked with. Before long, they were singing, preaching, and missions‑traveling across Texas, New Mexico, Panama, and even Jerusalem. They married on December 8, 2018, and Gwen joyfully inherited a whole new crew of children and grandchildren. Through prayer and healing, Gwen answered God’s call to healthcare chaplaincy, completing a year‑long CPE residency with Ascension Seton (2019).

Today she serves through Sam Craig Ministries and Gwen Craig Ministries, as a Christian Inspirational Speaker and Music Evangelist, writing daily devotionals, teaching women’s Bible studies, teaching laypeople chaplain skills, singing, playing piano, working in missions ministries (domestic and international), and walking beside the hurting with the hope and joy of Christ.

And she’s still praising His name, grateful, joyful, and ready for whatever new adventure God writes next for her life.

Well, now you know a little bit about Gwen, so grab another glass of sweet tea and keep on readin’ and wanderin’ on over to the ministry page for the rest of the story about the ministry God’s planted in her heart…
