Unmoved

Well, now, welcome on up to this ol’ front porch, friend. Let’s git real cozy and swat a few of them ol’ bothersome flies, so we can git to talkin’ about the Rock that sho’-nuff’ never cracks. Psalm 89:26 reminds us that we can cry out, “You are my Father, my God, and the rock of my salvation.” And tucked right alongside that truth is Isaiah 26:4, which says, “Trust in the Lord forever, for in God, the Lord, is everlasting strength.” Everlasting strength. Not sometimes strength. Not strength that depends on the weather or your mood. Strength that holds real firm even when life plum feels like an ol’ squirrel that went and got himself stuck up into your attic and now he refuses to be leavin’.

It’s no wonder folks admire giant rocks. The Rock of Gibraltar stands solid and mighty strong like a massive limestone watchdog guardin’ the Mediterranean Sea. It don’t ever flinch. It don’t wobble. It don’t bother with checkin’ the weather report.

Moses said the same thing about God in Deuteronomy 32:4. “He is the Rock. His work is perfect.” Just as massive rocks don’t change, God’s ways don’t change. He don’t crumble when life gets real rowdy. He don’t shift when circumstances get too loud. He’s the same yesterday, today, and tomorrow, even when tomorrow gits to feelin’ like an ol’ raccoon that discovered your trash cans and keeps comin’ back and helpin’ himself to the trash goodies.

Friend, you gotta be takin’ shelter in the God who’s your solid Rock. The world may git to feelin’ like it’s sinking sand. It may shift under your feet like a lil’ ol’ goat that refuses to stand still for a haircut. But God remains unmoved. His strength ain’t seasonal. His protection ain’t optional. His presence ain’t never fragile. Lean on Him because He’s the only ground that won’t give away.

Father, thank You for being my Rock when everything else feels shaky. Help me trust Your strength, rest in Your protection, and stand firm in Your truth. Keep my heart steady and my feet planted on You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Well bless your heart, friend. As you git on your way from here today, you gotta be lettin’ your worries be lighter than a feather on a lil’ ol’ barn cat’s tail and be keepin’ your confidence in God stronger than an ol’ cedar stump that’s survived a termite onslaught over the last few years. When life tries to nudge you off balance like a lil’ ol’ deer that wandered too close to your garden fence, remember that your Rock don’t ever git to budgin’. He holds you real tight, steadies you real good, and shelters you from all them critters that roam around. So, stand real firm, breathe real deep, and keep right on trustin’ the One who never moves.

With joy,

Gwen
