Hope…
Well now, from the moment that sun peeks over the horizon till it plops back down like it’s worn slap out from doin’ its job all day, the name of the Lord is worth praisin’. And may those mornin’ rays fall on you like a big ol’ Heaven‑sent hug, steady, warm, and reminding you that God’s face shines even brighter than a Texas sunrise.
Psalm 55:22 tells us, “Cast your cares on the Lord, and He will sustain you.” In plain English: hand Him your worries before they start hollerin’, stompin’, and carryin’ on like toddlers overdue for a nap. He’s mighty good at carrying what would squash the rest of us flatter than a possum on a country road.
Folks say you can go a few days without water, a few minutes without air, but not one heartbeat without hope. And isn’t that the truth? Hope is what keeps us movin’ when life feels like it’s been tossed in a blender and set to high speed.
But where do we get the kind of hope that doesn’t wobble like a three‑legged table on a crooked porch? Some folks try to find it in people, money, success, or whatever shiny thing is struttin’ across the internet this week. Bless their hearts, that kind of hope melts faster than Blue Bell ice cream on a July sidewalk.
As God’s people, our hope is anchored in Him. We trust Him because He doesn’t change His mind like the weather forecast: sunny at 8, thunderstorms by lunch, who knows by supper. He’s steady. Sure. True. If He says it, you can build a great big wraparound porch on it and invite the whole neighborhood over. Because He’s constant, we can trust His path leads us straight toward Him and toward Heaven.
Anything else we lean on will eventually let us down. But the Lord? He can shoulder every burden without even loosening His collar. Real hope, the God‑given kind, doesn’t leave us guessing. It gives us courage to take risks for Him knowing our future is already tucked safely in His hands.
So, what’s that deep, achin’ hope tucked down deep in your heart? Have you handed it to the One strong enough to hold it?
Lord, thank You for being my steady place in a shaky world. My hope rests in Your unchanging love and Your faithful hands. Help me to leave there. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Now go on, friend, carry that hope with you, and make Him known today.
With joy,
Gwen
