Faith in Work Boots

Land o’ Goshen, friend! Go on and stretch a little, breathe deep, and step into this day with your eyes wide open. The Lord’s sprinkled kingdom opportunities all over your path, like wildflowers along acountry road. Don’t tiptoe past ’em. Step bold and serve Him with joy.

Mark tells us about four fellas who weren’t about to let anything keep their friend from Jesus. The house was packed tighter than a potluck line after church, so they climbed right up on the roof, peeled it back, and lowered their buddy down like it was the most natural thing in the world. And when Jesus saw their faith, He forgave and healed the man (Mark 2:3–5). That’s what determined love looks like.

Now, the Bible doesn’t give us a personality profile on every disciple. Some of them slip in and out of the story like quiet guests at a family reunion. But every now and then, we catch a glimpse of just enough to see what Jesus saw.

Take Andrew, before he ever followed Jesus, he was listening to John the Baptist. One day John pointed at Jesus and said, “Behold the Lamb of God!” (John 1:29). That was all Andrew needed. He didn’t form a committee or ask for a sign. He just followed. And then he did something beautiful; he went and found his brother Simon and said, “We found the Messiah.” And he brought him straight to Jesus (John 1L41-42).

Andrew didn’t preach a sermon. He didn’t write a book. He just brought someone he loved to the Savior. And look what God did with Simon Peter.

If we had more Andrews, we’d have more Simons. One person bringing another person to Jesus, it’s simple, powerful, and far too rare.

And sometimes, like those four men on the roof, it takes a team. One plants, another waters, but God brings the growth (1 Corinthians 3:6). We each play a part in someone’s story.

Maybe we need to remember what God saved us from, just like Andrew did. Fresh gratitude makes bold witnesses.

Who can you bring to Jesus today?

Father, open my eyes to the opportunities You place before me. Give me courage, gentleness, and compassion as I share Your love. Prepare hearts, guide my steps, and let my life point others to Jesus. In His mighty name, I pray. Amen.

Now, as you walk through this day, thank God for the sweet blessing of being His beloved child.

With joy,

Gwen
