A Very Present Help
Well now, as that sun climbs up over the horizon like it’s stretching after a long night’s nap, remember this rock‑solid truth: God is your refuge and strength. He’s always gonna be there to help (Psalm 46:1). Not your “sometimes help,” not your “when‑I‑get‑around‑to‑it help”, He’s your ever‑present help. No storm too rowdy, no valley too shadowy. He goes before you, beside you, and, bless your heart, even within you.
Jesus said, “Don’t let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God; trust also in Me” (John 14:1). That’s His gentle way of saying, “Quit frettin’, and lean on Me.”
Trouble, as you’ve probably noticed, is part of the package down here. You can’t dodge it forever. Sometimes it shows up because of our own choices, like when we ignore God’s nudges and end up knee‑deep in consequences. Sometimes it comes courtesy of other folks who weren’t raised right. And sometimes trouble just blows in like a surprise Texas thunderstorm, even when you’re following Jesus as best you know how.
And Jesus didn’t sugarcoat it either. He said the world might not clap for you when you stand with Him. In fact, He said it might get downright uncomfortable. But He also made it clear, He’s not asking you to face any of it alone.
When trouble comes knocking, that’s when trust steps up. Trust that He’ll carry you when your legs feel wobbly. Trust that He’ll steady your heart when fear starts pacing the porch. Trust that He’ll give you peace that doesn’t make a lick of sense to anyone but Him.
Because He will.
Lord, thank You for being my shelter when life gets loud. Thank You for peace that whispers through the storm and strength that holds me steady. You part seas, calm waves, and make a way where there isn’t one. My hope rests in Your faithful hands. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
So, walk into this day with courage, friend. Even if the road ahead looks uncertain, the One who holds the universe is holding on to you, too.
With joy,
Gwen
