The Trust that Steadies Your Steps
Well, glory be, friend, you just wandered up on this ol’ front porch like a curious lil’ ol’ barn cat lookin’ for a warm spot to settle in real good. So, come right on in and rest yourself for a spell. I’ve been sittin’ here thinkin’ about trust, the kind that feels steadier than a wise ol’ mule that refuses to step in a muddy ditch. Life gets twisty sometimes, like a lil’ squirrel tryin’ to outrun an ol’ hound dog, and that there’s exactly when the Lord leans in real close with His truth.
Proverbs 3:5 says, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding.” That verse is the Lord remindin’ us that our own understandin’ is about as reliable as an ol’ gopher tryin’ to guard a garden of ripenin’ veggies. We think we sho’-nuff’ know the best route, the safest plan, the smoothest path, but the Lord sees a whole lot farther than any of us ever could.
Psalm 37:5 says, “Commit your way to the Lord, trust also in Him, and He shall bring it to pass.” That there ain’t just encouragement. That’s a downright promise. When we hand Him our plans, He steadies our steps the way a good ol’ shepherd steadies his sheep that are wanderin’ too close to the edge of the pasture.
And Isaiah 58:11 says, “The Lord shall guide thee continually, and satisfy thy soul in drought.” Friend, that means even when life feels drier than a lil’ ol’ caterpillar sittin’ on a sun‑baked fence post, God still guides, still nourishes, still leads. He don’t leave us guessin’ or wanderin’ like a lil’ mole diggin’ in circles. He plum directs our paths with purpose.
Trust is not always easy. Sometimes it feels like tryin’ to convince a stubborn lil’ ol’ goat to walk in a straight line. But the Lord never asks us to trust without help. He guides. He strengthens. He steadies. And He walks ahead of us with wisdom we can’t see yet.
Father, thank You for guidin’ us when our own understanding falls short. Thank You for steadyin’ our hearts and directin’ our paths. Teach us to trust You fully, to commit our ways to You, and to rest in Your faithful guidance. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
Friend, you go on now and step into the rest of your day with a heart calmer than a sheep grazin’ in a quiet meadow. Trust has a way of clearin’ out the fog the same way sunrise chases away the shadows off a barn roof. Carry this here truth with you like a brightly glowin’ lantern that plum refuses to dim. The Lord has already walked ahead of you, and the path He has set is richer and much more fertile than a field after a refreshin’ spring rain.
With joy,
Gwen
