Right Beside You

Howdy, friend, look at you wanderin’ on up here today. Come on and ease yourself onto this ol’ porch swing with me for a spell. These boards might groan like a sleepy ol’ beaver that stayed out too late gnawin’ on the wrong tree, but they’re holdin’ up just fine. I’ve been sittin’ here chucklin’ like a sly lil’ fox that found a forgotten basket of biscuits out behind the smokehouse. I’m just itchin’ to share a truth that’ll settle your heart better than a pot of stew simmerin’ on a chilly Texas evening. Matthew 28:20 says, “And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” That there’s not just a verse. That there’s a real steady promise carved straighter than a fence line laid by a man who knows his land and loves his Lord.

When you serve Christ, you’re never alone. Jesus is standin’ with you. Sometimes that’s easier said than lived, especially when life feels darker than an ol’ possum that wandered into the barn, got noticed by the farmer, and then, in his fright forgot where the door was. Maybe you’re walkin’ through a season that plum feels real lonely. Maybe you’re standin’ in a place you never planned to be. Maybe you’re dealin’ with trouble that showed up like an ol’ wild turkey that got spooked and ran straight into your day.

But, friend, you’re not alone. Jesus is standin’ with you, and He’s not movin’. Psalm 34:18 says, “The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.” That there means He’s not just nearby. He’s plum right up close, steady as a cedar fence post even when you feel like your whole world’s wobblin’ like a newborn baby calf tryin’ to stand.

Make sure you’re standin’ with the Lord. Follow His agenda. Walk in His Word. You’ll never sense His presence if you’re too busy chasin’ your own plan like an onery ol’ goat that refuses to stay in his own pen with the other goats. Real worship happens when you give Him everything. Your time. Your choices. Your obedience. Don’t hold nothin’ back.

Is that there notion true for you? Are you lined up with that kind of surrender? Don’t be playin’ church. Don’t you be thinkin’ that singin’ the songs makes up for a heart that’s wanderin’ like a lil’ ol’ squirrel that plum forgot what tree it came jumpin’ out from. Our lives are meant to be honorin’ the Lamb. Surrender your heart today.

Father, I come with nothing but my sin. Thank You for standin’ with me, lovin’ me, and callin’ me to walk close to You. Help me surrender fully, trust deeply, and follow You faithfully. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Alright then, friend, as you ease yourself away from this ol’ porch and git to wanderin’ on back into your day, let this here truth settle in your heart like a lil’ firefly glowin’ steady in a mason jar on a summer night. God’s presence ain’t never gonna be flimsy or flighty. It’s real faithful, firm, and steady as a river rock that’s held its place in the ground through a hundred floods. He’s walkin’ with you closer than a loyal lil’ ol’ barn cat that shadows your steps followin’ as close to you as he can git, and He’s watchin’ over you sharper than an ol’ red‑tailed hawk perched high up on a fence post. Let this here promise git to wrappin’ around your spirit like a fresh‑washed quilt hung out on the clothes line, warm, sure, and ready to remind you that you’re never walkin’ through a single moment all by yourself.

With joy,

Gwen
