Grace for Every Mile
Well, look at you showin’ up today, friend. Come on and ease yourself onto this ol’ front porch before the sun gets any higher. These boards might rumble like a grouchy ol’ snappin’ turtle that woke up on the wrong side of the pond, but they’re sturdy enough to hold some mighty fine truth. I’ve been sittin’ here feelin’ mighty fine like a chipper lil’ armadillo that stumbled across a whole stack of forgotten watermelon rinds over behind the smokehouse just waitin’ with bated breath to share somethin’ that’ll settle your spirit better than a cool breeze driftin’ through a cotton field at dusk. 2 Corinthians 12:9 says, “My grace is sufficient for you,” and friend, that’s not just a plain ol’ verse. That there’s God handin’ you a lifeline woven straight from His heart.
Grace is God’s unearned kindness poured out on folks like you and me. Romans 5:8 reminds us, “But God demonstrates his own love for us in this, while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” That there means God didn’t wait around for us to clean ourselves up. He plum loved us first. He plum loved us fully. And He plum loved us freely.
Paul sho’-nuff’ knew what it felt like to carry a burden heavier than a stubborn ol’ mule that refuses to budge. He begged God for relief, but instead God gave him somethin’ a whole lot better. He gave him His good grace that was strong enough to hold him mighty steady. Psalm 46:1 says, “God is our refuge and strength, an ever present help in trouble.” That there means grace isn’t nothin’ flimsy. It’s real sturdy. It’s real dependable. It’s God showin’ up right when you think you’re about to topple over like a newborn baby colt tryin’ to stand for the very first time.
Grace is God’s perfect love in motion. It’s His mercy reachin’ out when you’ve run out of strength. It’s His peace whisperin’ calm when your heart’s rattlin’ like a lil’ ol’ woodpecker tappin’ on a tin roof. It’s His forgiveness coverin’ every sin you’ve ever dragged to Him. And, friend, it’s His promise that whatever comes your way today, His grace will surely be enough. It’s all you need.
Father, thank You for Your amazing grace. Thank You that no matter what comes my way, You’ve promised Your grace will be sufficient to carry me through. Thank You for Your grace of love, forgiveness, mercy, peace, joy, strength, and provision. Help me trust You deeply and walk with You faithfully. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Alright then, friend, as you ease yourself away from this porch and wander back into your day, let this truth settle in your heart like a steady lantern glowin’ through a misty meadow at sunrise. God’s grace isn’t ever no kind of flimsy. It’s real fierce, faithful, and sturdier than a river stone that’s stayed in its place in the ground through more than a thousand floods. He’s walkin’ with you closer than a trail‑wise hound dog that never loses your scent, and He’s watchin’ over you sharper than a bobwhite bird perched high up on a cedar limb. Titus 2:11 says, “For the grace of God has appeared that offers salvation to all people,” and friend, that there means His grace isn’t only just enough. It’s present. It’s active. It’s reachin’ for you right now. So, let His grace wrap around you like a freshly washed quilt flappin’ on the clothesline, warm, sure, and ready to remind you that you’re never ever gonna be facin’ a single moment alone.
With joy,
Gwen
