Return to JESUS, Your First Love
Every time you smile, friend, it’s like the Lord tucks a little blessing right in there with it. He’s held back nothing but has the very best for you, His precious child. But sometimes, even the best of us drift a bit.
That’s what John’s word from the Lord in Revelation 2:4-6 was talking about when the church at Ephesus was told, “Y’all have walked away from the love you had at first.”
Now that’s a hard truth to swallow. Those folks used to be on fire; they just couldn’t wait to tell anybody who’d listen about Jesus. They were steady, committed, willing to pay whatever price it took to follow Christ. But somewhere along the way, the spark dimmed. The passion cooled. They were still believers, sure enough, but living like nothing holy had ever happened to them.
If we’re honest, that hits close to home. Plenty of Christians today are walking around saved but tired, discouraged, and running on fumes of what they used to feel. The first step away from God isn’t usually rebellion. It’s simply falling out of love with Jesus. That’s what happened in Ephesus. They didn’t lose their doctrine; they lost their devotion.
So, let me ask you, are you where you used to be? Do you remember that first joy, that first fire, when you couldn’t wait to share Christ with the people you loved? Or has life, weariness, and a thousand little distractions pulled your heart away from its first love?
If so, don’t you worry. Jesus isn’t scolding you to shame you. He’s calling you back because He dearly loves and misses you. He wants that closeness again.
Lord, my heart wants to burn bright for You again. I confess that life has dulled my fire, but Your love never fades. Stir up my soul. Remind me of the joy of knowing You. Fan the flame inside me until my life shines with Your grace. I give You my heart again today. Reignite my passion, Lord. In Jesus’ name, Amen.”
Today’s a brand‑new chance to see God’s goodness. Keep on going. He’s right there with you.
With joy,
Gwen
