Overflow in Motion

Well, bless my ol’ boots, friend, thank you for stoppin’ in. I’m mighty glad to see you comin’ up on this ol’ front porch like a lil’ ol’ country sparrow lookin’ for a real safe perch. Go on and settle yourself in that rocker that creaks louder than a stubborn ol’ mule tryin’ to negotiate with a fence post, but it’ll hold you just fine anyway. Let’s sit for a spell and let the Lord whisper somethin’ deep and sweet to our hearts.

Genesis 39:2,4-6 tells us, “The Lord was with Joseph and blessed everything around him.” Friend, that ain’t just a story about a man in Egypt. That’s sho’-nuff’ a picture of what happens when God’s presence rests on you. When you belong to Christ, you carry His presence into every place you step. You’re saved to shine hope in a world that feels a whole lot darker than an ol’ barn loft at midnight. You’re chosen, set apart, and placed on assignment.

Second Corinthians 2:14-15 says that “Through Christ, God spreads His fragrance everywhere.” That plum means you’re not just walkin’ around. You’re carryin’ the aroma of Christ like a sweet breeze movin’ through the tall pines. And Acts 1:8 says, “You will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you.” So, the strength you need is already inside you like a deep well waitin’ to be drawn from. You’re not beggin’ God for somethin He forgot to give you. You’re instead learnin’ how to use what He already placed in you.

Nehemiah 9:20 says, “God gave His good Spirit to instruct His people.” That means the Holy Spirit ain’t just powerful. He’s personal. He teaches, nudges, and guides you even when your thoughts feel tangled like a squirrel nest blown around in a big windstorm. And Psalm 31:19 says, “How abundant are the good things that You have stored up for those who fear You.” Friend, that there means God has blessin’s stacked up for you like jars of sweet dewberry jam on a pantry shelf.

You’re not just blessed. You’re a blessin’ walkin’ around on two legs. Any connection with you is an opportunity for God’s goodness to spill over to somebody else. Don’t belittle yourself because of weakness. God’s Spirit in you is stronger than any limitation.

Father, thank You that Your Spirit lives in me. Teach me, guide me, and let Your power flow through my life. Make me a blessing everywhere I go. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

Well, I declare, friend, the goodness of God has a way of trailin’ after His people like a loyal ol’ farm dog that plum refuses to wander far. His peace settles into a heart the way soft twilight settles across a quiet pasture, real steady and sure. His strength rises inside you the way a mighty oak tree pushes its roots deeper when the storms roll through. And His joy shows up in the most unexpected places, sometimes in the form of a frisky lil’ ol’ chipmunk dartin’ out from behind a stump, remindin’ you that God’s good blessin’s have a habit of findin’ you even when you are not lookin’ for ‘em.

With joy,

Gwen
