God’s Kindness Spilled All Over You

Well, land sakes alive, the Lord done set this day in front of you like a basket of fresh‑picked peaches, and He is ‘a-callin’ you to lean in close on this here front porch while He done pours a little grace into your soul. Ephesians 1:6-8 says, “God has showered us with kindness, forgiveness, and freedom through Jesus.” That there is a whole lot of blessin’ for folks who sometimes feel about as worthy as a goat in a beauty pageant.

Now your spiritual enemy loves to use guilt like a mean ol’ rooster ‘a-usin’ his spurs. He will be ‘a-tryin’ to convince you that your sin makes you real unfit for God’s family. He whispers, “Looky here at what you done. God surely can’t be ‘a-lovin’ you now.” That there rascal will guilt trip you faster than a raccoon can tip over a trash can.

But grace means real undeserved favor. That there is a real fancy way of sayin’ you didn’t even earn it, butterbean, and you can’t ever lose it. You ain’t just forgiven. You are done received. Welcomed. Loved. God approves of you ‘cause Jesus done lives in you. When God is ‘a-lookin’ your way, He ‘a-seein’ His Son ‘a-standin’ right there in your heart, ‘a-shinin’ like a lantern in a pitch dark barn.

Some folks done growed up with a daddy who was colder than a frog’s belly in January. Other folks had no daddy at all. And we take that there terrible ache and slap it right onto God, ‘a-thinkin’ He must be real distant, too. We gIt ta’ walkin’ around ‘a-thinkin’, “If’n I had jus’ did more, maybe God woulda’ noticed me.” But Psalm 68:5 says, “He is a Father to the fatherless.” Ephesians 1:3 says, “He has blessed us with every spiritual blessing.” James 1:17 says, “Every good thing comes from Him.”

God shore-‘nuff approves of you. Not ‘cause you done read your Bible longer or done worked harder or behaved better. He approves of you even when you done slipped up, when you done stumbled, when you done fell flat on your face like a calf a-tryin’ to stand on a slick barn floor. You’re done accepted because of what Jesus has already done, not because of what you’ve done.

And once you done understand that there, you will done be ‘a-wantin’ to go to livin’ for His glory, so as not to be jus’ ‘a-earnin’ His approval, but ‘cause you already done have it.

Father, thank You for ‘a-showerin’ me with grace I could never, ever earn. Help me to be ‘a-restin’ in Your love, trustin’ Your heart, and walkin’ in the freedom Jesus done purchased for me. Keep me real steady and grateful every day. In Jesus holy name, I pray. Amen.

Well, I reckon we’ve done been ‘a-stirrin’ this here boilin’ pot of truth long enough. Now, you go on out there and be rememberin’ if God has done already accepted you in Jesus, then you’re done a whole lot safer than a plump ol’ possum that’s ‘a-hidin’ under the porch ‘cause you’re done totally safe in His keepin’ ‘cause ain’t nothin’ ‘a-gittin’ through that, no, sir!
