Behind the Scenes Blessings

Well now, friend, pull up a good chair on this front porch before that curious little possum waddles over here and starts eyeballin’ us like he’s inspectin’ prime real estate for his next midnight snack shack. We’re about to take a little journey into one of those behind‑the‑scenes Bible moments that proves God can use anybody, anywhere, even folks who feel about as noticeable as a lone fence post in a meadow full of tall grass and grazing longhorns. Matthew 6:34 says, “Do not be anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.” That is the Lord’s gentle way of sayin’, “Friend, quit tryin’ to haul tomorrow’s hay bale when today’s already sittin’ heavy on your shoulders.”

Take that young girl in 2 Kings 5:2-3. She was a captive, tucked away in Naaman’s household, workin’ quietly like a whippoorwill buildin’ a nest where nobody bothers to look. Nobody knew her name. Nobody expected her to change history. Yet she spoke one simple sentence that sent Naaman straight to the prophet Elisha and straight into a miracle. She did not preach a sermon. She did not host a tent revival. She just opened her mouth at the right moment.

And then there is Nehemiah. He was the king’s cupbearer, which meant he lived close enough to royalty to smell the perfume but close enough to danger to drop like a beetle under a boot if the wrong person tampered with the goblet. Yet God used him behind the scenes to rebuild the walls of Jerusalem. Nehemiah did not panic about the future. He lived Psalm 55:22, “Cast your burden on the Lord, and he will sustain you.” He handed God the heavy stuff and stepped into the opportunity right in front of him.

Zechariah 4:10 tells us not to despise small beginnings because the Lord rejoices to see the work begin. That is exactly what we see in the stories of Nehemiah and the unnamed servant girl. Their roles looked small, but God used their quiet obedience to launch life‑changing miracles. Heaven celebrates the small steps we take in faith.

That is the beauty of God’s work. He does not need the loudest peacock in the garden. He often chooses the quiet turtle in the reeds who simply says, “Here I am, Lord. Use me .”

Father, help me notice the quiet opportunities You place in my path. Give me courage to speak when You nudge me and wisdom to trust You with the results. Teach me to cast my burdens on You and walk in peace. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Now my stars, friend, as you begin to find your way on back into your day like a steady little firefly driftin’ toward the treeline with its lantern glowin’ just enough to light the next step, remember this. God delights in using ordinary people in extraordinary ways. He is not lookin’ for the loudest voice, just the willing heart. When you cast your worries on Him, your hands are free to serve. And when you step into the small moments, He turns them into holy ground moments.

With joy,

Gwen
