Woven for His Presence
Well land sakes, friend, pull up a comfy rocker and set yourself down right here on this ol’ front porch. If you were any more welcome, I’d have to shoo away that ol’ raccoon that’s been eyein’ my cornbread off the railin’ this mornin’ and give you the good seat. Mercy me, it’s a pleasure to have you stop by. Sometimes the Lord’s truth sneaks up on us the way a curious ol’ goat sneaks into a garden, nibblin’ on things we didn’t even know needed tendin’. Exodus 26 tied together with the overarching verse Psalm 90:1 which says, “Lord, You have been our dwelling place in all generations.” That plum verse reminds us that God’s desire has always been to dwell with His people.
Exodus 26:1-6 paints a mighty good picture of the tabernacle that’s so detailed it’d make an ol’ beaver that builds dams look real lazy. Five curtains coupled to five curtains, fifty loops, fifty clasps, gold everywhere, and measurements so exact you’d think the Lord had hired a professional carpenter that could measure straighter than a lil’ ol’ rooster walks. Nothing was random. Nothing was sloppy. God was buildin’ a place to camp with His people, and He downright wanted ‘em to know He meant business.
And friend, He still sho’-nuff’ does mean business. The same God that arranged every curtain has arranged every detail needed to make His home right in your heart. First Corinthians 6:19 reminds us that “Our bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit.” That there means you’re not some rickety ol’ shed out behind the barn. You’re a handcrafted dwellin’ place built for the very presence of God. And just so we don’t miss it, Second Corinthians 5:5 says, “Now He who has prepared us for this very thing is God, who also has given us the Spirit as a guarantee.” The Lord didn’t just move in. He plum prepared you for His presence and sealed the deal with His Spirit.
So, when life feels mighty scattered like a flock of chickens runnin’ from a hungry, sly lil’ fox, remember this. God is real intentional. He’s ordered. He’s present. And He’s not goin’ anywhere. You’re stitched together by His grace just as surely as those tabernacle curtains were looped and clasped into one beautiful whole.
Father, thank You for preparing my heart as Your dwelling place. Help me trust Your intentional work in my life. Teach me to rest in Your presence and walk in Your Spirit. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Well alright then, before you head on out and let the rest of your day unfold like a curious lil’ calf discoverin’ a new pasture, let this truth settle real deep. God’s presence is woven into your life with more care than a songbird arrangin’ twigs for its nest. When the world starts clatterin’ around you like an ol’ woodpecker that found a hollow tree, remember that the same Lord who looped and clasped every curtain of that tabernacle has stitched His Spirit into every corner of your heart. So, you can be walkin’ forward with the steady confidence of an ol’ turtle that plum knows exactly where it’s goin’ because the God who dwells with you is guidin’ each step with real purpose and tenderness.
With joy,
Gwen
