Washed Clean and Made New
Well, alright now, my stars are doin’ cartwheels today! Friend, look at you wanderin’ up on this ol’ front porch like a bright little fox that finally decided to be actin’ respectable. Come on up here and mind that ol’ guinea hen struttin’ around like she’s auditionin’ for the queen of the whole barnyard. Sit yourself down for a lil’ ol’ spell because we’re about to be talkin’ about somethin’ mighty important. That’s the blood of Jesus. And it’s stronger, sweeter, and more life‑changin’ than anything this ol’ world has ever tried to replace it with.
Revelation 1:5-6 says, “To Him who loved us and washed us from our sins in His own blood.” Friend, that there verse is the heartbeat of our hope. Jesus didn’t just pat us on the back and tell us to git to tryin’ harder. He plum washed us clean. He plum made us new. He sho’-nuff turned our messes into testimonies the way a gentle ol’ shepherd turns a lil’ ol’ lost lamb back toward home.
And let me be tellin’ you, that there blood flowed from more than five wounds. It came from the crown of thorns, the scourged back, the pierced side, the torn hands and feet. Our minds are much too small to grasp the full weight of all that love. Ephesians 3:19 says His love “surpasses knowledge.” That there means even if we had the brainpower of a wise ol’ owl sittin’ on a oak tree branch, we still couldn’t measure it.
But we can sho’-nuff’ say thank You.
Hebrews 9:14 tells us that His blood “cleanses our conscience.” That there means He doesn’t just wash the outside. He gets right down into the places we hide, the places we’re ashamed of, the places we don’t talk about except to God. And Isaiah 1:18 says, “Though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be white as snow.” Friend, that there’s some real serious mercy walkin’ right into our hearts like a real soft snowfall coverin’ a muddy field.
And Psalm 130:7 says, “With the Lord is unfailing love and with Him is full redemption.” Full redemption. Not halfway. Not partial. Full.
Father, thank You for the blood of Jesus that washes me clean. Thank You for mercy, grace, and redemption. Help me walk each day in the joy of bein’ forgiven and the strength of bein’ made new. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Well, by thunder, friend, ain’t that somethin’ sweeter than a fresh, juicy peach picked right off the tree. As you take to your path off this porch and meander on back into your day, let your gratitude rise like a meadow bird takin’ flight at sunrise. Let your hope shine like sunlight spillin’ through tall cedar branches. Let your joy settle into your heart like cool water refreshin’ a tired traveler. And let your redeemed life leave a trail of grace behind you like footprints on a sandy beach. Now, go on, friend, and live washed, loved, and brand‑new.
With joy,
Gwen
