Trustin’ God Enough to Put Your Confidence in Him

Well, hey there, friend! I’m real glad you decided to come droppin’ in. I was just watchin’ a lil’ ol’ woodpecker hammerin’ away at a fence post like it was plum tryin’ to send a telegram to the whole forest, and it got to remindin’ me of somethin’ worth sharin’. Come on and sit a minute. Let’s visit. Scoot your chair up a little closer to this ol’ front‑porch moment because we’re about to go wadin’ knee‑deep into one of the richest truths that the good Lord ever tucked into Scripture. Proverbs 3:5 says, “Trust in the LORD with all thine heart and lean not unto thine own understanding.” And to help anchor this truth even deeper, we’re adding Psalm 37:5, which says, “Commit thy way unto the LORD. Trust also in Him. And He shall bring it to pass.”

Now, friend, trustin’ God can feel about as tricky as tryin’ to convince a stubborn ol’ mule that it really does want to walk uphill. Some folks only trust what they can see, like a raccoon that refuses to cross a creek unless it can count every single’ steppin’ stone. Others trust their bank account, their job, or their own smarts, but the minute life gits to shakin’ like a henhouse in a windstorm, that trust scatters faster than a flock of chickens runnin’ from a hungry ol’ fox that spotted an open gate.

But here’s the real good news. There’s One we can trust with our whole heart, our whole future, and every cracked, crooked, confusin’ part of our story. Trustin’ God ain’t just sayin’ the words. It’s plum living like His promises are a whole lot sturdier than an ol’ oak tree that has stood through a hundreds of fierce thunderstorms.

The Bible tells us in Proverbs 3:6, “In all thy ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct thy paths.” That there means we hand Him our plans, our decisions, our worries, and even the things we think we’ve already got figured out. When we do that, the Holy Spirit shines a real good light on our path like a bright lantern swinging on a country porch at midnight. Suddenly what felt real foggy becomes real clear. What felt mighty heavy becomes a whole lot lighter. What felt plum impossible becomes real doable because God Himself is guidin’ the way.

Trust also means believin’ what God says even when our feelin’s are floppin’ around like a big ol’ catfish that just got pulled up out of the river. It means choosin’ unshakable faith in His ability, not ours. It means settlin’ into the truth that God is faithful, steady, and incapable of failin’ us. That there’s the level He sho’-‘nuff wants us to walk in, friend. A real kind of confidence that grows some real deep roots.

Friend, trustin’ God just ain’t no one‑time decision. It’s a daily leanin’, a steady choosin’, a heart posture that says, “Lord, You do the leadin. I’ll do the followin’.” Some days you may feel like a squirrel tryin’ to cross a busy road, real unsure and jumpy. Other days you may feel as bold as a barn cat that knows exactly where it’s goin’. But in every single season, God is the One who keeps you real steady. He’s the One who sees the whole path. He’s the One who will never let your trust be wasted.

Father, thank You for teachin’ me to trust You with all my heart. Thank You for guidin’ my steps, lightin’ my path, and holdin’ my future. Fill me with confidence in Your faithfulness. Help me lean on You in every decision and every season. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Now then, friend, walk on out into your day remembering that, whether you feel like a brave lil’ ol’ barn owl perched high up in the rafters of the buildin’ or a jittery lil’ ol’ chipmunk clutchin’ real tight to an acorn, the Lord is plum trustworthy, steady, and right there beside you no matter what. And that there’s worth more than all the riches and understandin’ that this ol’ world has to offer.

With joy,

Gwen
