The Nudge that Turns into a Path
Howdy-do there, friend, would you look at you wanderin’ up to this ol’ front porch like a real cool, comfortin’ breeze that finally convinced the wind chimes to wake up. I was just watchin’ a lil’ ol’ chipmunk that tried to drag a dried out corncob twice its size across the yard and thought, “Shoot! That’s probably exactly how we look when we try to figure out life without the Lord’s help.” Psalm 143:10 says, “Teach me to do your will, for you are my God. May your good Spirit lead me on level ground.” And Proverbs 3:6 reminds us that if we acknowledge Him in all our ways He will make our paths straight. Those two verses go together like a pair of old farm boots that always know which direction the barn is in.
Most of us freeze up when we can’t see the whole picture. We stand there like a lil’ deer that wandered into a pumpkin patch and suddenly had to get at attention because it thought it heard a crackin’ sound in the bushes. We are always wantin’ certainty before obedience and clarity before courage. But, friend, when God nudges your heart toward somethin’ good, somethin’ holy, somethin’ that stretches your faith, you gotta be leanin’ right in toward a “yes” answer. Hebrews 11:6 says it’s impossible to please God without faith, and Isaiah 30:21 adds that whether you turn to the right or to the left you will hear a voice behind you saying this is the way walk in it. That there means God don’t wait for you to have a perfect plan. He plum guides you while you move, just like a shepherd that whistles at a wanderin’ sheep until it finally figures out which direction leads back to the pasture. God honors the step even when the step feels mighty wobbly.
The disciples said, “Yes,” without a map. Abraham said, “Yes,” without a destination. Mary said, “Yes,” without understanding the miracle. Every one of them discovered that God can steer a movin’ heart far better than a parked one. When you’re walkin’ with Him your “yes” is real safe. He’ll close the wrong doors and nudge you toward the right ones.
Lord, teach me to say yes when You call. Give me courage like a barn cat that finally decides it is done letting the rooster boss it around. Lead me on level ground and help me trust Your Spirit more than my fears. Amen.
Ok, that’s it, friend, so as your thoughts git to scatterin’ like a flock of birds that can’t decide which direction to fly, let this here truth settle real deep in your heart. Faith gits to growin’ best when you move, not when you wait for perfect conditions. Obedience becomes clearer once your feet start to walkin’. Peace gits to settlin’ in when your heart aligns with God’s will. And purpose unfolds like a sunrise that plum shows more beauty with every passing minute. When in doubt, say, “Yes.” That “yes” may be the doorway to the very blessed thing God has been preparin’ you for all along.
