Sent With Power
Welcome up to this ol’ front porch, friend! Come on up here and find yourself a real good spot. If you were any more welcome around here, I’d have to chase off that lil’ mischievous barn cat that keeps rearrangin’ my porch cushions and quiet that lil’ ol’ woodpecker that’s been tappin’ on the railin’ like it’s plum tryin’ to send out Morse code. This here ol’ place has seen everything from a turkey gobbler that tried to outrun its own shadow to a silly lil’ squirrel that attempted a high‑wire act across the clothesline. So, you’re sho’-nuff’ in the right place. Let’s settle our hearts for a moment and be lettin’ God’s Word roll in like a cool breeze driftin’ through a stand of cedar trees.
Isaiah 42:6 says, “I the Lord have called you in righteousness. I will take hold of your hand. I will keep you and will make you to be a covenant for the people.” Jesus called His twelve disciples in Matthew 10:1-5 and gave ‘em power over unclean spirits and every kind of sickness. He didn’t choose ‘em because they were polished or perfect. He chose ‘em because He had a purpose for ‘em.
When God calls somebody, He never leaves ‘em guessin’. He plum lays out the assignment, the challenges, and the victory path just like He did for Moses in Exodus 3:19-21. God told Moses that Pharaoh would resist, but He also promised wonders, deliverance, and favor. That’s plum how God works. He calls, He equips, and He leads.
Your calling is not a vague idea floatin’ around like a confused ol’ barn owl that lost its perch. It’s a God-given purpose that sho’-nuff’ carries weight, direction, and meaning. Jeremiah 1:7 reminds us that when God sends us, we go, and when He commands us to speak, we speak. That verse tells us that our purpose is not optional. It’s plum woven into the very reason God breathed life into us.
You weren’t just called to have dominion over darkness. You were called to dismantle the grip of evil over lives, families, and communities. You were called to preach the Gospel, to shine light, to carry hope, and to walk in the authority Jesus gave His disciples. A life without purpose is plum emptier than a feed bucket after a hungry ol’ mule gets through with it. So, don’t be lettin’ this year slip by without discoverin’ why God called you and what He has placed in your hands.
Father, thank You for calling me with purpose and direction. Your Word lights my path and strengthens my spirit. Help me walk boldly in the calling You have given me and fulfill it with joy. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
Well, bless your heart, friend, before you move on to whatever the Lord has tucked into the next corner of your day, let purpose rise in you the way a sunrise climbs over a ridge and spills gold across the fields. Let courage stand steady inside you like a real weathered fence post that refuses to lean even when the wind gets feisty and strong. Let obedience guide your steps like a wise ol’ sheepdog that knows exactly where the flock needs to go. And let joy bubble up in your spirit like a spring that keeps right on flowin’ no matter how many leaves tumble into it. Carry your calling with you. God has already prepared the ground ahead for you, and He delights in seein’ you walk it out with His help.
