Sent on Purpose

Hey there, friend, come on up to this ol’ front porch and let these boards creak out a welcome like they just woke up from a long afternoon nap and realized you were headed their way. I’m mighty glad you came by this way today. Settle yourself into an ol’ rocker, breathe in that warm air, and let the good Lord steady your heart the way a tall oak stands firm even when a nosy lil’ raccoon climbs up in it to have a lil’ ol’ look-see of the surroundin’ area. John 20:21 says, “As the Father has sent me, I am sending you.” To deepen that truth, let’s weave in Isaiah 6:8, which says, “Here am I. Send me.” These two verses stand together like two brightly glowin’ lanterns hangin’ on the same porch beam throwin’ light in the very same direction.

Friend, do you know what you are to the people God has placed in your life? When Paul needed someone to check on the believers in Thessalonica, he didn’t send no leftovers. He sent Timothy, his right‑hand man, his best. Paul was simply reflectin’ what God Himself had already done. God didn’t send no kind of second‑string help to rescue humanity. He sent His Son. He sent His best.

Now here’s the part that might make you blink twice. You’re God’s downright best for someone right now. If God has opened a door for you to step into someone’s life, you’re exactly who they need at this moment. Not because you’re perfect or because you have all the answers, but because God placed you there. Ephesians 2:10 says you’re His handiwork, created to do good works He prepared long before you ever took your first breath.

You might not feel like the best. Good. The moment you start feelin’ like you’re the best is usually the moment you become about as helpful as an ol’ goat tryin’ to organize a tool shed. But your feelin’s don’t change the truth. God has plum selected you, positioned you, and sent you. And Isaiah 6:8 reminds us that the right response is simply, “Here am I. Send me.”

So, stop waitin’ to feel qualified. Stop waitin’ until you have more trainin’ or more confidence. If God has put someone in your path who needs what you have, then you’re His best for them right now. Go. Be sent.

Lord, thank You for trustin’ us with Your work. Give us courage to step into the places You send us. Help us see ourselves the way You see us and serve with humility, joy, and obedience. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Well, ok then, friend, the porch breeze has told us about all it can for today, so you git on now and let the Lord direct your steps like the bright sunlight spillin’ through the trees on a quiet country trail. Let your courage git to risin’ like an ol’ barn owl takin’ flight at dusk. Let your purpose git to shinin’ like a lil’ blinkin’ firefly dancin’ over an open summer field. Make sure that your obedience is rooted real deep like a cedar tree that keeps right on reachin’ up toward the sky. And make sure that you’re walkin’ into your day knowin’ full well that God has plum sent you as His very best.

With joy,

Gwen
