Quit Tryin’ to Make Your Own Miracles

Well, would you look at that! The Lord done opened up a fresh batch of daylight, and He is ‘a-invitin’ you to step right on into it. So, git yourself on up here on this here front porch swing ‘afore the chickens done realize you done beat ‘em to greetin’ the morning ‘cause a new hope is ‘a-stretchin’ its legs with this brand‑new day, and Psalm 27 reminds us that the Lord is our light and salvation. That there is mighty helpful when life feels darker than ‘a-slidin’ on down inside a gopher hole while ‘a-wearin’ sunglasses.

Isaiah 55:8 tells us, “My thoughts are nothing like your thoughts, and My ways are far beyond anything you could imagine.” That there is God’s gentle way of  ‘a-sayin’, “Settle down, junebug, I done got this.” ‘Cause sooner or later, every one of us at some time is gonna be ‘a-facin’ somethin’ that looks real impossible. I am ‘a-talkin’ ‘bout the kind of situation that makes you be ‘a-starin’ at the ceiling like a confused ol’ owl ‘a-wonderin’ how in the world this is all gonna be ‘a-workin’ out.

And when that there moment comes, you get a choice. You can be ‘a-waiti’ on God’s timing, or you can go a‑tryin’ to make your own miracle like Abraham did. Bless his heart, God promised him a son, but instead of waitin’, Abraham done cooked up his own plan. It was messier than a goat ‘a-gettin’ loose in a garden. But God still worked His miracle through Sarah, and Abraham’s pitiful shortcut caused more trouble than a hungry raccoon ‘a-getting’ into a feed room.

That is what happens when we try to be ‘a-fixin’ things ourselves. Our solutions are always gonna be second best. God’s way is always gonna be the best, even when it makes ‘bout as much sense as a woodpecker ‘a-tappin’ on a stop sign. Miracles come from God, not from our schemin’. And them there miracles usually show up ‘a-comin’ from directions we never done even thought to look in.

Isaiah 41:21 says, “Present your case.” So go right on ahead and ask be ‘a-askin’ boldly. Then say, “Lord, I don’t know how You will do it, but I trust You will do it according to Your will.” After that, you gonna have ta wait, you gotta obey, and you gotta follow. And ‘a-fore you know it, God will work things out in them there king o’ ways that’ll leave you standin’ there with your jaw ‘a-hangin’ wide open like a real surprised mouse ‘a-starin’ into the real close up eyes of a barn cat.

Father, You are the God of miracles, the One who is always ‘a-makin’ the impossible possible. I place every need and challenge in Your hands. Be ‘a-strengthein’n my faith, ‘a-steadyin’ my heart, and be ‘a-helpin’ me to trust Your timing and Your will. Let Your miraculous power be ‘a-shinin’ through my life and be ‘a-brinin’ glory to Your name. In Jesus mighty name I pray. Amen.

Well, I reckon that is enough porch gabbin’ and heart searchin’  for one day. Now you go on out there and be ‘a-trustin’ in God’s plan. His miracles may not show up when you expect, but they always gonna git there right on time, like an ol’ proud rooster who ain’t never gonna be a’-forgettin’ his job to get to his crowin’ when it’s time!.

With joy,

Gwen
