Leadership That Blesses
Hey there, friend, it’s so good to have you comin’ by here. So, come on up to this ol’ front porch and rest your weary bones here for a minute or two. I’ve been waitin’ to share somethin’ that’s richer than a pot of Sunday beef stew and steadier than that ol’ farm rooster that crows constantly whether the sun’s up or not. Some days tryin’ to understand leadership feels like coaxin’ an ornery ol’ mule that plum refuses to budge toward the day’s work even when the gate’s wide open. You holler, you wave your arms and kick up rocks, you pray real hard, and that ol’ mule just looks at you like it’s contemplatin’ algebra. That’s why Proverbs 29:2 sets the tone sayin’, “When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice, but when a wicked man rules, the people groan.” And tucked right beside it, Psalm 33:5 reminds us, “The Lord loveth righteousness and judgment. The earth is full of the goodness of the Lord.” God’s heart has always been set on righteous leadership that blesses, does not burden.
Now, friend, folks talk a whole lot these days about needin’ to be politically correct. Seems like everybody’s tiptoein’ around every group no matter how sideways that group’s choices might be runnin’ against God’s ways. But when God created the earth, He wasn’t takin’ polls or holdin’ town hall meetin’s. His policy was the only way because His nature was only meant for good. Jeremiah 9:24 says, “He delights in kindness, justice, and righteousness.” That there means His rules were never about control. They were plum about takin’ care of His creation. His leadership has always been rooted in love, not domination, and in blessing, not burden.
Back in the Garden of Eden, God laid down real good guidelines for Adam and Eve. As long as they followed His ways, they reigned over every livin’ creature. They represented the Creator in how they lived, how they took care of His creation, and how they treated each other. God’s government was bein’ expressed through humans, nature, and animals. He was and still is the ultimate righteous ruler. And He wanted that same kind of righteous leadership to be spread across the earth through godly men and women who could be legislatin’ His kingdom in every area of life. That’s why He said in Deuteronomy 28:13-14 that He would make His people the head and not the tail if they followed His commands.
And, friend, here’s where the deeper truth settles in. God never intended leadership to be loud, flashy, or self-promotin’. He intended it to look like His heart. That means integrity when nobody’s watchin’, courage when the crowd’s confused, and compassion when folks are hurtin’. It means standin’ firm even when the world acts like a jittery lil’ ol’ squirrel that can’t decide which tree to climb. It means lettin’ His righteousness shape your decisions the way a river shapes a valley, slow but sure, steady but powerful. God desires leaders who carry His character into every corner of life, and He’s called you and me to be part of that there righteous representation.
Father, help me walk in Your righteousness. Teach me to lead with kindness, justice, and truth. Strengthen me to represent Your kingdom wherever You place me. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
Alright now, friend, as you git involved in the doin’s of your day, keep this truth tucked down in your heart like a lil’ seed you plant deep in good soil. Righteous leadership grows the way a mighty oak does, slow and steady, stretchin’ its branches wider every year. It’s like a creek that refuses to dry up even when summer gets hot and ornery. It’s like a barn lantern that keeps burnin’ long after the chores are done. When God calls you to lead, He equips you to shine, to steady others, and to stand firm even when the world acts like a fidgety lil’ ol’ humminbird that can’t decide which direction to fly. You’ve gotta be walkin’ in His ways. You’ve gotta be carryin’ His heart. And you gotta be lettin’ His righteousness be the mighty steady beat that guides your steps.
