Known, Seen, Loved, and Still Invited
Well, mercy me, friend, settle yourself in and ignore that bumblebee hoverin’ nearby like it is judgin’ your life choices ‘cause we are about to wander into a truth stitched tighter than a county‑fair ribbon quilt. You ever seen a quilter a‑workin’, her needle a‑flashin’ like a hummingbird that drank too much sweet tea? Half her scraps look like they were borrowed from a squirrel redecoratin’ its tree, yet she somehow turns them into somethin’ cozy enough to make a chilly fox curl up and sigh.” That is how Psalm 139:1-2 feels when it tells us, “O Lord, You have searched me and known me. You know my sitting down and my rising up; You understand my thought afar off.” The Lord knows every thread, every frayed edge, every loose stitch in us, and He still calls the whole thing worth keepin’.
Now, let me tell you somethin’. Scripture says in John 2:24-25 that Jesus “knew all men” and needed no one to explain what was in a person. He already knew. He knew the thoughts we try to hide, the ones we pretend we never had, and the ones we hope nobody saw floating across our faces like a confused chicken wanderin’ through the barnyard. And yet, He keeps lovin’ us anyway. That right there is enough to make a woodpecker pause in mid‑peck.
David understood this. In Psalm 139:23-24 he asked God to search his heart and point out anything that needed fixin’. That takes courage, friend. Most of us would rather hide behind a spiritual hay bale and hope the Lord doesn’t notice the mess we’ve made. But He already knows. He knew us before we were a‑movin’ in our mama’s womb, and He knows us now, right down to the thoughts we have not even had yet.
So, when you need direction, comfort, or a nudge back onto the right trail, ask the One who knows you better than a mama goat knows her own kids. He sees it all. He understands it all. And He loves you through it all.
Father, thank You for knowin’ me fully and lovin’ me completely. Search my heart. Show me what needs changin’. Help me walk in the truth You reveal. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Now, as you go a‑moseyin’ into the rest of your day like a chipmunk lookin’ for its misplaced acorn, remember that you are known a whole lot deeper than a fox den and loved stronger than a draft horse pullin’ a plow. Nothing about you surprises God. And that, my friend, is a truth warm enough to wrap around your soul like the coziest, most comfortable quilt on the front porch.
With joy,
Gwen
