Just Stay Calm

Let your little light shine, friend. God’s light is already up before you are, and it’s more than enough to guide your steps today. As John reminds us, “You belong to God, and the Spirit who lives in you is greater than the spirit in the world” (1 John 4:4).

Now picture those Israelites standing at the Red Sea water in front of them, Pharaoh’s army thundering behind them, dust rising, horses charging, nowhere to run. It must’ve felt like the worst kind of dead end. But Moses stood there, calm as a man on a porch swing, and said, “Don’t be afraid… stand still, and watch the Lord rescue you… The Lord Himself will fight for you. Just stay calm” (Exodus 14:13–14).

Just stay calm. Three little words that feel mighty big when trouble’s breathing down your neck.

But that’s exactly what God asked of them, and He came through. The sea split, the ground dried, and God walked His people right through the middle of what looked impossible., and when the enemy tried to follow, God shut the door behind them.

Our lives get like that, too. The enemy comes at us with fear, temptation, confusion, and lies. He tries to make us think we’re trapped or outmatched. But here’s the truth: we’re not fighting alone. The Spirit of God lives in us, and He’s stronger than anything chasing us.

Paul said it this way: “Be strong in the Lord and in His mighty power”(Ephesians 6:10). Not strong in yourself. Not strong in your plans. Strong in Him.
Sometimes the holiest thing you can do is take a breath, plant your feet, and let God be God.
Stand still… and watch the Lord rescue you.

Lord Jesus, thank You for the victory You’ve already secured for me. Help me stay calm when trouble comes and trust the Spirit within me, who is greater than anything in this world. Keep my heart steady and my faith strong. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

So as you step into the rest of your day, keep this tucked in your heart like a love note from Heaven: the Spirit inside you is bigger, stronger, and mightier than anything struttin’ around in this world. That’s not wishful thinkin’. It’s right outta Scripture. “Greater is He who is in you than he who is in the world.” In other words, you’re not walkin’ into life outnumbered. You’re walkin’ in backed by the Almighty Himself!

With joy,

Gwen
