If Your Knees are Knockin’, Kneel on em’!

Take a slow breath, inhale, then exhale, this morning, my friend, and let Paul’s words settle deep:
“Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything… and the peace of God… will guard your hearts and minds” (Philippians 4:6–7).

Some folks can sleep through a thunderstorm and a freight train. I’m not one of ’em. One little creak in the house and my eyes pop open. But Jesus? Now He could sleep. Luke tells us that while the disciples were fighting a howling storm on the Sea of Galilee, waves crashing over the sides, Jesus was snoozing like a baby (Luke 8:22–25).

When panic hit, those disciples did the smartest thing they could; they woke Him up. In other words, they prayed.

That’s our lesson right there. When life starts rocking your little boat, don’t stew, don’t pace, don’t let your mind run wild; cry out to the Lord. Hand Him the whole mess. Faith and worry don’t share the same space. When one walks in, the other walks out. Jesus said, “Let not your heart be troubled”(John 14:1), and He meant it.

Paul reminds us to pray about everything not just the big emergencies. Bring God your needs, your fears, your questions, and then thank Him for what He’s already done. Gratitude is like opening the windows of your soul and letting fresh air blow through, and when you do that, God’s peace, real peace, the kind that doesn’t make sense on paper, will stand guard over your heart like a faithful watchman.

Somebody once said, “If your knees start knockin’, kneel on ’em.” That’s good advice. Prayer isn’t a chore; it’s a lifeline. The sooner we learn to run to God instead of running in circles, the stronger our faith grows.

Just like those disciples, when we call on Jesus, we end up amazed at what He can do, and our faith gets a little sturdier for the next storm.

Lord, quiet my heart and draw me close. Teach me to seek You first, to treasure prayer, and to hear Your voice above the noise. Let my soul find rest, strength, and direction in Your presence. Make my walk with You steady and joyful. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

Take a moment today to notice His blessings; they’ll steady your steps.

With joy,

Gwen
