Faith Ain’t Quiet
Well, howdy there, friend. It’s a real delight to have you comin’ by here today. Maybe you came on over to this ol’ front porch because you thought you just saw a lightning bug blinkin’ Morse code and wanted somebody to confirm you were not imaginin’ things. So, anyway, since you’re here now, why don’ you just pull up a rocker and git yourself settled in? We’re about to step into somethin’ that’s a whole lot warmer than a July sunrise and livelier than a lil’ ol’ rooster that plum thinks he’s the high boss of the barnyard. Sometimes faith feels a whole lot like tryin’ to convince a stubborn ol’ mule that the gate is open. You can holler all you want to, wave your arms like crazy, even bribe that ol’ onery mule with a bucket of sweet feed, but until you say somethin’ that really gets its attention, it just stands there blinkin’ like a confused ol’ possum that just wandered into a church prayer meetin’. That there’s why Hebrews 13:5-6 reminds us that God has spoken so we may boldly speak. And Psalm 119:130 says the entrance of His Word gives light. When God talks, friend, it’s your turn to talk back to Him with faith.
Christianity just ain’t no kind of quiet tiptoein’. It’s real holy boldness. Second Corinthians 4:13 tells us that we believe and therefore speak. That there means when the Word drops into your spirit, you don’t just sit there like a lil’ ol’ squirrel that plum forgot where it buried its acorns. You respond. You speak. You declare. Quiet Christians git to fadin’ like fog on a hot Texas summer mornin’ because the Word don’t git to workin’ until it’s spoken.
God has already said His divine power has given you everything that pertains to life and godliness. That’s found in Second Peter 1:3. Your response ought to sound like someone who finally plum realized the pantry is mighty full. You would then have to be sayin’, “There is no lack in my life because all things are mine. I prosper everywhere to the glory of God.” You’re sho’-nuff’ not making things up either. You’re agreeing with what God has already said.
Every time God speaks, His words are packed tighter than an ol’ raccoon squeezin’ himself into a chicken coop. Them words are plum loaded with power. So, what has He said about you? What truth have you discovered in His Word? Your confession is your cooperation with Him. It changes circumstances, rearranges attitudes, and reminds the enemy that you just ain’t the timid type.
Friend, keep on speakin’ what God has spoken to you. Hold on to His promises like a lil’ ol’ woodpecker hangin’ on to the last tree in the forest. Confess where you’re goin’ and what God is doin’. In due time you’ll git to seein’ it, for sure. Faith talks because faith trusts.
Father, thank You for Your powerful Word. Help me respond with bold faith. Teach me to speak what You have spoken and stand firm until Your promises show up in my life. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
Alright now, friend, as you pack up your belongin’s and leave to git back to your daily doin’s, you gotta be rememberin’ that faith ain’t no lil’ whisper. It’s a real declaration. It’s the real steady voice that sho’-nuff’ keeps right on talkin’ even when life gits to actin’ like an ol’ goat that plum refuses to get off the porch. Keep right on speakin’. Keep right on believin’. And keep right on trustin’ the God whose Word never returns empty.
With joy,
Gwen
