Built for His Purpose
Well now, friend, I see you comin’ up the walk like you’re huntin’ for a real quiet place to let your soul breathe for a lil’ ol’ spell. Go on and settle yourself right here on this ol’ front porch where the boards creak like they’re tryin’ to greet you by name. The Lord has a word today that’s richer than a pot of sorghum syrup simmerin’ slow on a wood stove. The breeze is driftin’ through these pecan branches like it’s carryin’ stories from every backyard in the county, and a feisty ol’ chipmunk is perched on the rail lookin’ at you like it’s takin’ notes for a woodland newsletter. Meanwhile, a round‑bellied ol’ raccoon is lumberin’ near the shed actin’ like it’s in charge of this property, and a wide-eyed fox keeps peekin’ from behind the brush like it’s waitin’ for its cue to come out. Watchin’ that critter gatherin’ reminds me of Colossians 1:16, “For by Him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible.”
God’s purpose has always centered on His Son. Acts 15:18 says, “Known unto God are all His works from the beginning of the world.” Before a single star ever even blinked awake, God already knew His plan. When we git rooted in His purpose, we begin to sense His power. The more we sink our roots into His Word, the more established we’re gonna become in His plans.
God works according to His mighty power to accomplish everything He has purposed. He’s a God of intention. When we accept His will, we step into the center of His design. There’s no greater joy than fulfillin’ His purpose here on earth. We’re born again to live for Him and to give Him pleasure. Our plans aren’t the main event. They’re meant to bow to His plans. The only way to do that is to be livin’ in His will and practicin’ what His Word says.
Colossians 2:7 says, “Rooted and built up in Him and established in the faith.” We plum git established by seein’ God’s purposes and His great plan. Many folks tend to think we’re the center of God’s plans, but Scripture reminds us otherwise. Ephesians 1:11 says, “In Him also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestined according to the purpose of Him who works all things according to the counsel of His will.” That there means His plan is the anchor, and we are the ones holdin’ on.
Father, thank You for makin’ Your purpose known to my heart. Help me live for Your pleasure and walk in Your will. Teach me to make Christ the center of my life and the focus of my days. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Alright then, friend, as you leave this porch and walk back into the rhythm of your day, let this here truth rest on you like the shade from a tall oak on a hot afternoon. God’s purpose just ain’t no riddle. It’s a real steady road. When you walk it, peace gits to settlin’ into your bones. And just like a gentle rain soaks into thirsty ground, His plan will seep into every part of your life until it shapes you from the inside out. Now go on, friend. Keep on mindin’ all them crazy critters, keep on watchin’ your step, and keep on walkin’ straight into the purpose the Lord has made you for His own glory and pleasure.
