Heaven Never Looks Away

Now friend, I know life can feel like you are a squirrel tryin’ to outrun a pickup truck. You dart left, you dart right, and you still wonder if anybody sees you. Joseph sure knew that feeling. One minute he was the favored son, the next he was tossed aside like an ol’ Banty rooster that crowed plum at the wrong hour. His brothers sold him. Potiphar’s wife downright lied about him. Then, he landed in prison for doin’ exactly what was right. If that ain’t enough to make a person feel forgotten, I sho’-nuff’ don’t know what is.

But Genesis 39:21 says, “But the Lord was with Joseph and showed him mercy.” Mercy me, that there verse is like a warm quilt on a cold night.

And Psalm 33:18 reminds us that God’s eye is on us. Not glancin’, not distracted, not peekin’ over the fence. Fully fixed. Fully present. Fully aware. The Almighty that watches over every lil’ ol’ deer that plum slips through the cedar trees watches over you with even greater care.

Isaiah 41:13 says, “For I, the Lord your God, will hold your right hand, saying to you, ‘Fear not, I will help you.’” Isn’t that somethin’? The God that plum steadies the mountains says He will steady you.

Joseph’s prison wasn’t no kind of punishment. It was downright preparation. Sometimes our “stuck places” are the very spots where God is shapin’ us like a potter working clay. We think we’re buried like a potato in the root cellar, but God knows we’re planted.

Father, thank You that Your eyes never drift away from me. When I feel overlooked or misunderstood, remind me that You are working in ways I cannot yet see. Give me courage to trust Your timing and peace to rest in Your presence. Shape my heart in the quiet places and lead me into the purpose You have prepared. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Alright now, friend, rise up from this porch and carry this truth with you. An ol’ raccoon may slip into the shadows, but the woodsman still knows exactly where it wandered. A lil’ field mouse may vanish under the hay, but it’s never hidden from the One who made it. You may feel tucked away in a season that makes no sense, but you’re never tucked away from God. Walk on into your day with this fresh confidence. You’ve never lived one single second outside the steady, lovin’ gaze of your Father.

With joy,

Gwen
